An Investigation of the Other
Immigrants and migration continue to be topical matters of public interest and discourse, and as an immigrant myself, this body of work is invested in contributing to that exchange. Rather than offering something didactic, the paintings included in "The Investigation of the Other" present something more tangible; people. The range of perspectives in these works aim to facilitate empathetic conversations around the shared humanity between the subject and viewer. Each portrait uses the likeness of the sitter as a means of celebrating different facets of the human experience.
